Needs Statement
There is a critical need to enhance the knowledge and confidence of healthcare providers, including OB, MFM providers, and other professionals, in managing Placenta Accreta Spectrum Disorder (PASD). This gap has led to increased maternal morbidity and mortality during delivery. The proposed workshop will provide practical knowledge on identifying risk factors, utilizing appropriate imaging techniques, and implementing evidence-based management strategies. It will also address inconsistencies in multidisciplinary care planning and improve patient education on PASD. Given the shortage of specialty-trained providers and the lack of dedicated workshops in the greater Houston area, this initiative will offer essential training to ensure consistent and effective management of PASD in pregnant patients.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for Maternal Fetal Medicine, OB/GYN; General Surgery, Anesthesiologist, Critical Care Physicians, Hospitalist, Urologist, Advance practice provider; Certified Registered Nurses Anesthetist, Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician, Resident, Fellow, Pharmacist, Physician Assistant, and Sonographer.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the conference, participants should be able to:
- Describe specific maternal obstetric and medical conditions and appropriate treatment
- Apply appropriate imaging modalities (ultrasound and MRI) to accurately diagnose PAS prenatally.
- Explain physiologic changes that occur in placenta accreta spectrum disorder (PASD)
