Community Conversations and Caregiver Connections

Needs Statement

There is a critical need to address unsafe infant sleep in the state of Texas and Houston, specifically. Infant sleep-related death remains the leading cause of non-natural death under the age of 18 years leading to ~80 deaths each year in Houston alone. Despite annual guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and availability of evidenced-based injury prevention strategies, parents and professionals often underscore the importance of safe sleep practices with children under age 1. This webinar aims to provide healthcare practitioners with the necessary information to make informed recommendations and place the necessary emphasis on safe sleep with their patients.

Target Audience

Primary care physicians, pediatricians, family doctors, OB-GYN, residents, fellows, nurses, PA, doulas, NICU nurses, NICU physicians.

Learning Objectives
