Overview
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) and Cognition program was developed following a successful response to Taquitos de Sesos (Taquitos), an international didactic program founded by Dr. Adriana Macias Strutt in September of 2017 at Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Neurology, Neuropsychology Section. This CME DEI program in conjunction with Taquitos will bring together learners and faculty for didactics that focuses on diversity topics in the fields of academic medicine, particularly neurology, neuropsychology, psychiatry and psychology. Presentations will provide updated guidelines for clinical and research practice to increase providers’ knowledge via a diversity lens and enhance quality of patient care and outcomes. Presentations by nationally and internationally recognized experts will be hosted via an online platform.
These activity will focus on diversity issues in specialty care. Topics presented will focus on issues of institutional racism, stereotype threat, professional competencies, recruitment, education and training of diverse students, patient-centered care and the impact of ability, culture and language on specialty care practices.
