Needs Statement

It is essential that providers know how personal and institutional implicit bias impacts them, their patients, their learners and their team. Tools to identify personal bias and strategies for advocacy will empower faculty to be agents for change.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

• List a specific example of a disparity that could result for each of the following groups because of implicit bias:

       a. Patient

       b. Medical student

       c. Nurse
• Create a personal strategy for recognizing your implicit bias
• Describe a departmental strategy that could reduce implicit bias through advocacy

Evaluation

Evaluation by questionnaire will address program content, presentation, and possible bias.
