Needs Statement

Educational goals for learners in the Emergency Center include identifying and managing critically patients. Effective teaching during these high-stakes events is a challenge. During this workshop, the learner will identify/review these challenges and learn/review teaching techniques that may help overcome them.


Target Audience 

This activity is for Pediatric Emergency Medicine Faculty, Fellows, and Advanced Practice Providers.

Lecture, Case Study, Small Group Breakout Sessions, Role Play


Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Describe barriers to creating optimal learning environments in the Emergency Center during resuscitations and high-stakes clinical events.
  • Describe an optimal learning environment in the Emergency Center during resuscitations and high-stakes clinical events.
  • Identify tools and strategies for effective teaching in the Emergency Center during resuscitations and high stakes clinical events.

Evaluation

Evaluation by questionnaire will address program content, presentation, and possible bias.
