Overview
The planning of regularly scheduled series (RSS) activities that are certified for continuing medical education (CME) credit must adhere to the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) criteria, standards, and policies. When an activity is approved to offer CME credit, the hosting department and its designated individuals, RSS Director and RSS Coordinator, are responsible with following the RSS policies and procedures of the Division of Continuing Professional Development (DCPD). This training will define continuing medication education, RSS, and their role in an academic medical center, the purpose of disclosure and conflict of interest, and the operational procedures important to compliance.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between an RSS series and an RSS session
  • State the purpose of disclosure
  • Describe what must be done if a speaker discloses a financial relationship(s)
  • Describe what is necessary for a learner to earn CME credit from attending a RSS session

Target Audience
Series Directors, Series Coordinators, Administrators of Departments with RSS, Series Backup Person(s)

Educational Methods
Online training modules, resources (e.g., templates, forms, guidelines)

Activity Completion
Completion of this training is required for all faculty and staff who will be involved in the planning of RSS activities. Each person will need to attest to completing this training and meeting the RSS planning requirements.
