Needs Statement
To address practice gaps in the timely identification and discussion of critical events and deviations in care pathways, healthcare providers at Texas Children’s Heart Center require structured, case-based learning that reinforces the application of evidence-based protocols in real-time clinical scenarios. This series serves as a platform where learners can discuss changes in practices related to patient diagnosis and treatment as well as identify the need for other opportunities for improvement. Many of these discussions relate to care guidelines and help to identify additional gaps in these areas. Using weekly surgical and catheterization cases as a springboard, the series aims to identify markers for team performance, to implement strategies for greater team communication, to promote situational awareness among team members, and to identify opportunities for quality and process improvements in clinical practice. These competencies are essential for ensuring consistent application of clinical standards, fostering a culture of safety, and driving continuous quality improvement in the care of children with cardiovascular diseases and conditions.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include case presentations and audience response.
