Target Audience and Needs
Physicians, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, laboratory technicians, and other healthcare providers involved in the acute care of patients need to receive regular updates on disease-specific clinical best practices. The series aims to expand clinical knowledge and foster greater collaboration across medical specialties. The series will also identify gaps in patient care to target for quality-improvement initiatives and for optimization of treatment outcomes.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:
- Apply established and evolving clinical practices to patient care and demonstrate knowledge of the evidence that supports those practices.
- Recognize the importance of a multidisciplinary team for optimizing treatment, ensuring efficiency, reducing healthcare costs, promoting patient safety, and improving treatment outcomes.
- Develop transition-of-care models for multiple medical conditions across multiple cadres of patients.
- Engage in quality-improvement initiatives to maximize acute care.
Evaluation
Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
