Target Audience
Needs Statement
To address the complexity of pediatric cardiac intensive care, learners require structured, competency-based education that emphasizes the interpretation of multimodal data, including imaging, laboratory results, and physiologic monitoring, to guide clinical decision-making. This series features discussions led by expert faculty and trainees, grounded in the definition of complex cardiac physiology and hemodynamic profiles. It aims to disseminate the most current evidence-based medical and interventional strategies for managing pediatric and young adult patients with congenital heart disease and cardiomyopathy. This series provides a forum to bring together faculty, trainees, advanced practice providers, and other learners to foster interdisciplinary knowledge exchange, promote best practices, and stimulate collaboration and ongoing investigation.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include case presentations and literature review.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:
- Identify typical and atypical presentations of congenital heart disease and cardiomyopathy in pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients.
- Differentiate and assess commonly encountered physiologic profiles in children, adolescents, and young adults with congenital heart disease and cardiomyopathy.
- Integrate use of multimodal imaging, laboratory, and monitoring data to guide the management of congenital heart disease and cardiomyopathy.
- Apply evidence-based medical, surgical, and mechanical support strategies to improve outcomes in pediatric cardiac critical care.
- Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration to enhance care delivery and stimulate further investigation.

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
