Target Audience

Needs Statement

Advanced practice providers require structured, evidence-based education that addresses surgical and perioperative topics often absent from their initial training or newly developed since their education. To meet this need, this series features lectures delivered by providers with significant specialty experience and insight, ensuring the content is both authoritative and clinically relevant. The lecture-based format, enriched with case presentations and literature reviews, supports comprehensive understanding of complex surgical topics. This approach enables learners to integrate new practices into their clinical workflows and fosters reflective learning to identify areas for professional growth and improved patient care.

Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, and literature review.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

• Describe the pathophysiology of surgical processes to enhance diagnostic reasoning and clinical decision-making in perioperative care.
• Discuss novel practices and technologies in surgery, including emerging tools, techniques, and protocols.
• Assess individual professional development to identify opportunities for improvement, fostering a culture of continuous learning, reflective practice, and self-assessment.
• Incorporate interdisciplinary collaboration through communication and coordination among care teams to promote continuity and quality throughout the patient care continuum.

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
