Target Audience
This activity is designed for clinical physicians, physician-scientists, basic scientists, other healthcare professionals, and trainees.
Needs Statement

Learners require targeted education to expand their knowledge of the pathophysiology and physiology of cardiovascular disease, the mechanisms of cardiovascular science and clinical studies, the analysis and interpretation of results, and the integration of findings into science and clinical practice. The series will address the need for deeper knowledge of emerging biomarkers, therapeutic targets, and the limitations of preclinical and clinical studies in predicting treatment efficacy and safety. A focus of the series will be to discuss the basic science underlying cardiovascular clinical studies and professional guidelines and thereby promote a wider dissemination of this information to achieve evidence-based patient care. By presenting focused lectures on current research, the series aims to equip clinicians, scientists, and trainees with the tools to critically evaluate new data and apply it to improve patient outcomes.

Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:

  • Identify gaps in medical knowledge that negatively affect patient care in cardiology.
  • Recognize new research areas with translational potential, including novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
  • Discuss new research findings that may influence clinical practice and improve outcomes in cardiovascular medicine.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
