Target Audience and Needs

Harris Health psychiatrists and psychologists need to be regularly updated on advances in clinical areas that impact their psychiatry practice. The series aims to increase knowledge of the learners in certain topic areas (i.e., addiction, medication management, and medical ethics) to enhance the quality of mental healthcare for their patients and improve outcomes.


Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures.


Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Review the latest updates in addiction psychiatry to formulate treatment plans for patients with addiction misuse disorders. 
  • Evaluate current evidence to assess the risks and benefits of treatment for psychiatric illnesses during pregnancy.
  • Recognize the ethical responsibilities of mental health professionals and incorporate ethical principles into practice. 

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
