Terry Fife, MD

Target Audience
This activity is intended for physicians, residents, fellows, and medical students involved in the care of patients with neurological diseases.
Needs Statement
To bridge the gap between emerging scientific evidence and its application to complex clinical neurology cases, learners require dynamic, case-based educational experiences that reinforce both foundational knowledge and the integration of new research into practice. This series provides a structured forum for the discussion of complex and challenging cases, fostering critical thinking, diagnostic precision, and collaborative  problem-solving. These sessions support the development of clinical competence by encouraging the application of evidence-based guidelines, evaluation of treatment outcomes, and consideration of cost-effective care strategies. In addition to enhancing clinical  knowledge, learners benefit from content that promotes awareness of health disparities and the importance of delivering equitable care across diverse populations. The curriculum also addresses professional development needs by incorporating topics related to physician wellness, burnout prevention, and career sustainability. These educational priorities align with ACGME and ABPN expectations for competency in patient care, medical knowledge, systems-based practice, and practice-based learning, and are essential  for improving patient outcomes, satisfaction, and the overall quality of neurological care.

Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures and case presentations.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Apply evidence-based guidelines and current standards to the diagnosis, management, and treatment of neurological disorders.
  • Discuss and evaluate complex neurological cases to enhance clinical reasoning, decision-making, and patient care.
  • Analyze safety data, patient-centered data, and cost considerations to improve the quality, efficiency, and value of care.
  • Identify and address systemic barriers and disparities in care delivery to promote equitable neurological care outcomes.
  • Integrate knowledge gained from case discussions to strengthen patient interactions and support continuous professional development.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
