Target Audience and Needs

Attending physicians, residents, fellows, nurses, graduate students, medical students, analysts and programmers need to be regularly updated on the role of informatics in health care, the current approaches to utilize large sets of data in health care and appropriate measures to draw effective conclusions from this data. The series aims to increase knowledge of the learners in these topic areas, and to develop better means to put data to effective use in order to enhance the quality of health care and outcomes.


Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures.


Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Identify the need for informatics in healthcare.
  • Demonstrate current approaches to utilize large sets of healthcare data.
  • Develop better strategies to analyze data and measure effectiveness in the health care setting.
  • Utilize approaches to draw effective conclusions, clinical outcomes and predictive analytics from data.
  • Implement clinical informatics to address quality issues, usability and safety of clinical information systems, and large data sets to predict clinical outcomes.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
