Target Audience and Needs

Orthopedic surgeons, fellows, residents, medical students, and healthcare professionals in related disciplines need to receive regular updates on treatment guidelines and advances in orthopedic research.  Controversial topics and pitfalls in the practice of orthopedics will be used as an impetus for discussion.  The series aims to expand the knowledge of learners, disseminate evidence-based orthopedic practices, resolve systems-based care issues, enhance the quality of orthopedic care, and improve patient outcomes.


Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.


Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Review current best practices for orthopedic teams and how they can be applied to different clinical situations.
  • Discuss controversies surrounding orthopedic surgical practice and the varying perspectives on each.
  • Recognize pitfalls within the current practice of orthopedics and explain how they can be avoided.
  • Identify system-based problems in orthopedic surgical practice and implement appropriate changes for improvement.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
