Target Audience and Needs

Physiatrists, residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals who evaluate and treat rehabilitation populations need to be regularly updated with evidence-based clinical practices and research advances for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients receiving rehabilitation services. The series aims to increase knowledge of the learners in these topics, and to implement the advances and guidelines in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and outcomes while using resources efficiently.


Educational Methods

Educational methods will include case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.


Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Apply evidence-based knowledge and skills to improve the care of patients receiving rehabilitation services.
  • Implement rehabilitation medicine best practices and efficient use of resources.
  • Analyze research findings and their application to clinical practice and identify areas of future rehabilitation research.
  • Implement quality improvement strategies for complex rehabilitation care, specifically related to referral loop closures, that maximize patient safety and improve patient outcomes.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
