Target Audience and Needs

Pediatric Emergency Medicine faculty, fellows, and residents who are involved in the care of patients need to be regularly updated with the recent advances and guidelines in the field of care of the acutely ill and injured child, toxicology, social determinants of health, quality improvement, communication skills, and advocacy. The conference aims to increase knowledge of the learners in these topic areas, and to implement the advances and guidelines in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and outcomes.


Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, and literature review.


Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Assess and identify management strategies for envenomation in patients.
  • Define social determinants of health and list ways to provide resources to patients with health disparities.
  • Diagnose and identify treatment strategies for patients presenting with ophthalmologic emergencies.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
