Needs Statement
Clinicians in pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine require ongoing educational support to stay current with rapidly advancing diagnostic tools, therapeutic strategies, and clinical guidelines. Strengthening competence in interpreting diagnostic tests and applying evidence-based treatments tailored to individual patient profiles is essential. Structured opportunities to present and discuss complex or rare cases in a multidisciplinary setting guided by experts is critical for fostering collaborative learning and refining clinical decision-making. Education should also emphasize the integration of sleep health into routine care and the importance of evidence-based, multidisciplinary approaches to optimize patient outcomes.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include case presentations.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:
- Identify and differentiate the clinical signs, symptoms, and presentations of common and rare pediatric pulmonary and sleep disorders.
- Apply current clinical guidelines and literature to the diagnosis, evaluation, and management of pediatric pulmonary and sleep conditions.
- Evaluate and implement emerging therapies based on the latest evidence to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
- Select and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, including genetic testing and sleep studies, while minimizing unnecessary workups.
- Engage in multidisciplinary discussions and apply expert insights to evaluate complex or rare cases, enhancing clinical decision-making and patient safety.
