Target Audience and Needs

Physicians, residents, fellows, medical students, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants involved in the care of pediatric patients with pulmonary diseases need to receive regular updates on recent advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of these diseases.  Cases involving a wide variety of pediatric respiratory disorders will be used as an impetus for discussion.  The aim of the series is to expand clinical knowledge, increase competence, and foster implementation of clinical practice guidelines to enhance the quality of care and improve patient outcomes.


Educational Methods

Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations, literature review, and panel discussion.


Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Apply the appropriate strategies and clinical skills to diagnose, treat, and manage pediatric pulmonary conditions such as asthma, cystic fibrosis, sleep-related problems, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, interstitial lung disease, lung infections, and pulmonary hypertension.
  • Incorporate pulmonary medicine clinical guidelines into practice.
  • Manage complicated or rare pediatric pulmonary cases.
  • Utilize diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for the treatment of pediatric pulmonary diseases.

Evaluation

Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
