Target Audience and Needs

Physicians, residents, fellows, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of neonates need to receive regular updates on the best strategies for reviewing, analyzing, and applying medical literature to clinical practice.  The series aims to expand the knowledge of learners with regard to clinical epidemiology, biostatistics, and other research methodologies.  The series also aims to review the most current research evidence related to neonatal disease processes, diagnostic and treatment modalities, quality of neonatal care, and improvement of patient outcomes.

Educational Methods

Educational methods will include literature review.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:

  • Assess a neonatology research article by summarizing the methodologies used, the results reported, and the conclusions deduced.

  • Describe the old and new treatment modalities evaluated.
  • Interpret the results of the study and analyze its validity.
  • Implement evidence-based research findings from current neonatology research in clinical practice.
