Target Audience and Needs
Clinical geneticists, residents, fellows, laboratory fellows, genetic counselors, nurse practitioners, nurses, and medical students need to be regularly updated on the advances in clinical genetics research, and guidelines for the diagnosis and management of genetic disorders. The series aims to increase knowledge of the learners in these topic areas, and to provide the skills and tools for their implementation in clinical practice in order to enhance the quality of health care and outcomes.
Educational Methods
Educational methods will include lectures.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the sessions, the participants should be able to:
- Summarize and discuss clinical and research topics relevant to clinical genetics.
- Discuss treatment and management guidelines for genetic disorders.
- Identify current diagnostic and research methods used by clinicians and researchers in genetics.
- Identify platforms for research collaboration and publications to improve patient care.
- Explain the benefits of using whole-exome and whole-genome sequencing technologies in genetic diseases.
Evaluation
Participants may be asked to complete a session evaluation.
